Parent Information

The topics below provide a brief overview of basic information that
most parents request. The blue menus on the left also provide links
to various resources of interest. We believe that parental involvement
at Lake Hills makes an enormous impact on students' attitude, attendance,
and academic achievement.

Academics

Our curriculum standards are carefully aligned with the State of
Michigan which designated Lake Hills an overall "A" for our student
achievement, performance, and progress. In addition to instruction
in English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies,
we also provide physical education classes, music, band, orchestra,
and art classes.
Enrollment

We enroll students throughout the year primarily from North Ottawa
and Muskegon counties. Lake Hills is one of seven elementary schools
in the Grand Haven Area Public Schools district. If you wish to
enroll your child at Lake Hills, please contact the school office
at 616-850-5600. You may also download a student
enrollment form.
School Boundaries

In Grand Haven, elementary-aged students are assigned to their neighborhood
school. Parents do have the option to request a different school;
however, there is an application process, and openings are based
on available space. You may view an interactive boundary
map to see if you live in the Lake Hills attendance area.
Parent/Teacher Conferences

Communication with parents or guardians is an essential for students'
growth and learning. Along with an orientation in the fall, conferences
with teachers are scheduled in October and February. Student report
cards are distributed in October, March, and June.
Northshore PTA

The Northshore Parent/Teacher Association is an active organization
providing outstanding support for quality education at Lake Hills.
Our PTA meets bi-monthly and funds a variety of family events and
school assemblies throughout the school year. Visit the PTA
Blog or contact Amy Atkinson at 616-842-9302 for more information
about the Northsore PTA.
Food Services

Lake Hills provides complete breakfast and lunch services for all
students. Breakfasts include one entrée, a fruit or juice and milk.
Lunch allows students to choose from two hot entrée choices as well
as a chef’s salad. Milk may also be purchased for those students
choosing to bring a sack lunch. For further information, please
contact the GHAPS
Food Services Department at 616-850-6080.
Transportation

Bus transportation to and from Lake Hills is available for those
students within our school boundaries. It is a service we gladly
provide to enhance the convenience of education for students and
parents. Please call the district transportation department at 616-850-5150
for additional information.
Child Care Programs

Open Door and Prime Time are licensed child care programs designed
to meet the needs of all children. Open Door provides care from
6:30 a.m. until school begins and after school until 6:00 p.m. Prime
Time services children during the school day from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00

intellectual needs of young children. Breakfast and lunch are available
for students. Contact the Child Services office at 106 S. Sixth
Street or call 616-850-6825 for additional information or to register.
Preschool

Our Preschool Development Program is kept attuned to current trends
in early childhood education and provides developmentally appropriate
activities for 3-5 year olds. We provide an atmosphere where each
child creatively explores his or her world to make good choices,
