Students Enter Video Contest

THE FIFTH GRADE STUDENTS in Kirby Chittenden’s class at Lake Hills Elementary School are working on a music video to enter in a $25,000 Interactive Classroom Makeover Contest sponsored by eInstruction of Denton, Texas.

The Lake Hills' students decided to produce a parody on a song by the Jonas’ Brothers. The original song, “Burnin’ Up,” received new lyrics and a rap section created by the class who titled it, “Learnin’ Up.” The instrumental tracks were created by Chittenden on his keyboard workstation and the class recorded the digital vocal tracks and designed many of the storyboards for the video project.

Lake Hills Supports Relay for Life

Our staff and students raised a record $368 for the Relay for Life event at Lakeshore Middle School. The signature event for the American Cancer Society allowed participants to walk the middle school track during the 17-hour relay to help raise money and awareness to continue the fight to cure cancer.

Students and staff purchased "feet" and luminaries in honor and in memory of friends and family which symbolized the hope and perseverance with which we all continue to fight. Thank you for your generous giving.
